FEMtech supports women in research and technology. The extensive database of female experts provides a platform for networking for more than 2,000 women experts from over 130 fields.
Requirements
With FEMtech, the Federal Ministry for Climate Protection, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology (BMK) supports women in research and technology with the aim of creating equal opportunities. A comprehensive database of experts, which networks more women in research and technology, was to be redeveloped.
A particular challenge for the relaunch of the website lay in the diversity of the target groups and their needs. On the one hand, femtech.at is a platform for women in research and technology who use the site for networking and to present themselves as scientists for projects. On the other hand, companies can contact female cooperation partners via the website. Ultimately, the site serves as a point of contact and source of information for all surrounding groups.
Solution
We transferred Austria's largest database of female experts into a modern user management system, focusing on the best possible user experience. In the process, we restructured the existing content and optimized the menu navigation.
In addition to the display on mobile devices and the optimization of usability, the main focus of the redesign was on the implementation of barrier-free content for people with sensory and motor impairments.
The content management system used is Drupal in combination with HTML5/CSS3 and theme development based on Bootstrap (PHP).
